An Engagement celebrated at Swan Island Dahlia Farm

If your engagement session is blessed by the appearance of a double rainbow, I don’t know what other sign you need that you are truly meant to be!

Although there was no double rainbow during this engagement photo session, when Kyle proposed to Acacia in Hawaii, that's exactly what arched over the sky as they embraced and agreed to spend forever together.

After such epic-ness during the proposal, you can bet I was feeling just a tad nervous in the planning phases of deciding just where to photograph Acacia and Kyle’s engagement photos! I shouldn’t have worried however, as Kyle knew of this stunning flower farm over in Canby that allows for private photo sessions after-hours that provided more than a rainbow of colors from the fields of award-winning Dahlias that stretch across the farm.

Arriving just as all the day-visitors were pulling away, I was greeted by the amazing owners of Swan Island Dahlias as they opened the private gate and explained that for our session we would have free reign of any field we would like. Additionally, they even gifted us with a gorgeous bouquet of pink and white Dahlias that just happened to match the wedding color palette Acacia has planned for their celebration next June.

Acacia and Kyle arrived and we strolled out to the little side-garden so I could teach them a few basic poses before heading out to the larger fields. Acacia and Kyle needed hardly any posing direction, being naturals in front of the camera and having an energy that flows between them that makes photographing them an absolute joy!

While we worked from patch to patch we chatted about their work schedules and how Acacia feels that through her career she’s found a true fan and #1 supporter in Kyle.

The conversation flowed easy between the three of us and soon we were laughing and having an absolute ball. Before we knew it we’d reached the end of our private hour booking and we hopped in the car to head to our second location of the night: Molalla River State Park.

Before the evening of Acacia and Kyle’s engagement session I had never been to this particular park, but it is a natural light photographer’s DREAM location! Featuring a stunning field of tall golden grasses bordered by large oak trees and with the Molala river bordering it has everything you could want in an engagement session location and will now be one of my #1 suggested locations for future Kate Holt Photography couples!

Kyle and Acacia killed it and the images we created in the last golden rays of sunset are fit for the love they share together.

Acacia and Kyle will be celebrating their wedding at the Riverview Restaurant Waterfall Estate next summer and I can’t wait to see the beauty their big day will bring!

Until then, enjoy this little selection of images from Acacia and Kyle’s engagement session, and leave a note of congratulations for them in the comments section below!
