An Adventure Engagement Session in The Columbia River Gorge on Strawberry Island
If you followed along on my blog so far you know that I love traveling around the world. Although I have had the great privilege to visit many countries and beautiful places I truly do feel like the PNW is one of the most stunning locations in the entire world!
To keep Dom and I exploring in our own backyard as well as abroad one of the things that we do is offer a competition where we give away an Adventure Engagement Session to a few select couples a year. We take these lucky couples to new spots in the PNW that we have never photographed at before and have an adventure exploring.
On our list of spots to check out this year was a place called Hamilton Island in the Columbia River Gorge! I had seen a comment by another photographer online calling this place Strawberry Island and I will have to return in the summer to see if there are a lot of strawberries as while we were there this fall we did not see any! What we did see is a stunning riverside location that I will 100% be returning to with future couples!!
Our partners for this adventure were Allison and Dan! Allison and Dan also fell in love with PNW when they visited here a few years ago. Dan and Allison had met on the East Coast Andy luckily after visiting Portland and giving their heart to this beautiful city Dan was able to continue working for the same East Coast firm while Allison found a new job in her chosen field, epidemiology.
Allison and Dan are some of the most stylish couples we have had the pleasure of photographing and Dan brought a bit of the East Coast fashion with a surprisingly comfortable sport coat while Allison wore a vintage inspired white dress fitting for her future as a bride.
Since this was an adventure session we decided right off the bat to go off the main path and I was impressed with Dan’s ability to hike up a pretty steep and muddy path in dress shoes. Once we found a gorgeous grassy knoll overlooking the Columbia River I started snapping away as Allison and Dan smiles lit up in front of the camera.
Shortly into the start of the session Dom arrived after having been at Reed College running a photo booth for their Halloween festivities. As usually happens when Dom joins the crew even more laughter ensued as we got to know Allison and Dan even better.
Allison’s beautiful engagement ring took the center stage for a few photos as it was custom made and one of the more beautiful rings I have ever seen!
