An Adventure Engagement Session in Eagle Creek and Punchbowl Falls

If you’ve followed along my blog for a while, you might already know that I’m a sucker for a good adventure in a beautiful place. Living in the Pacific Northwest allows for weekly adventures, which I absolutely love, and finding couples to come along on new adventures to celebrate their love tops my list of favorite things!

For the adventure to Punch Bowl falls, I knew I was going to have to find a truly brave couple, as the path to the falls is mostly unmarked, and having only ever been to the lookout myself before, I knew whoever decided to trek along with me would have to be up for anything!

Cue in Kristina and Seth! These two were one of our lucky winners of our adventure engagement session giveaway this last fall and chatting with Kristina on the phone made me certain she and Seth were the perfect match for this type of crazy off-trail exploration.

Kristina and Seth are the kind of people who as soon as you meet them you could swear you’ve known them for years. They both are so easy to talk to and while we hiked the few miles into Punchbowl Falls, it was non-stop easy flowing conversation getting to know each other.

Kristina and Seth were brought together by Kristina’s brother. During a Halloween celebration, Kristina’s brother and Seth came to her house to pick her up before going out to celebrate with friends. Kristina wasn’t expecting her brother to come with a guest and was caught in what could have been an embarrassing situation had it been anyone else besides Seth who’d walked through the door.

To hear Seth tell the story is both hilarious and heart-warming, as he describes walking into the house as a supermodel dressed as Wonder Woman floated down the stairs carrying bags of breastmilk for her son. Seth, a father of two himself was instantly star-stuck and while Kristina might have been turning various shades of red in her cheeks, Seth was totally smitten.

Over the next few months, Seth pursued Kristina who, while truly enjoying the company of Seth and his sons, was trying to keep things slow while being a new mom and navigating her new life.

Spending numerous play dates together and seeing their sons bond together only brought them closer however and soon Seth and Kristina had made an effortless transition from friends to a couple.

On the hike Seth reminisced about many fun adventures they’ve had as a family and I couldn’t help but be impressed at how these two could take any challenging or difficult situation and make it into a fun adventure!

Our own adventure to Punchbowl Falls escalated quickly once we hiked down from the overlook, searching for a way to cross up and over the high overhanging cliffs that decades of pooling water had carved out. After a few failed attempts at crossing up and over, we went with a different approach, finding a fairly steep and muddy path to a small area overlooking the deep pooling waters Punchbowl Falls descends into.

Kristina had brought along a stunning purple (my favorite color!) dress, and Seth was a champ hiking along in a pair of dress shoes that while looked exceptional, offered very little to no traction on the steep descent!

Seth and Kristina were naturals in front of the camera and their ready and joyous laughter often filled the air while Seth cracked a few of his signature jokes and Kristina let her colorful hazel eyes sparkle.

To finish off the adventure we hiked back down to the river where I gave Seth a short lesson on Champaign Spraying and he and Kristina climbed up on top of a rock to celebrate their engagement in style!

The hike back brought a little shower of rain that had managed to hold off the whole day so far, and as we hugged our good-byes at the end of the trail I found myself thanking my lucky stars that it was Kristina and Seth whose names we drew out of our engagement session giveaway jar.
