Hannah + Jordan

A Spring Wedding at Green Lake in Seattle, WA

Man, coming back from Hannah and Jordan’s stunning spring wedding in Green Lake, I couldn’t help but have a full heart! Hannah and Jordan are “the real deal” and the love they share is not only evident in their wedding images, but when you are around them it is literally palpable! As I was reviewing all the images Dom and I shot during their gorgeous wedding day, I was struck with how even in the “in between” moments, the expression or Jordan or Hannah’s face as they looked at one another was just pure adoration and love.

Truthfully, you would be hard pressed to find two kinder people. The main theme of any time spend with them is laughter and joy. They bring out the best in people and their wedding was a true celebration of family, friendship and love.

Hannah and Jordan chose The Great Hall at Green Lake as their wedding venue, which is essentially a natural-light photographer’s dream venue with its floor to ceiling windows and neutral light interior.

The historical building was built in 1921 and renovated into a wedding and events venue that is perfect for a guest list of up to 150. Modernized ever so slightly by a unique pairing of a striking teal trim on the classic historical brick,. Hannah and Jordan’s color palette of dusty blue and blush with pops of fuchsia complimented both the season and the venue perfectly!

Arriving in Seattle the night prior, Dom and I rose early to walk around Green lake and scope out the best spots for portraits. To our delight the trees were bursting with white and pink blooms, and the Green Lake city park had recently undergone a major cleaning and overhaul, leaving it sparkling and wedding ready!

Dom and I started the morning at Hannah’s aunt’s adorable 1920s home where Hannah and her bridesmaids were putting on the final touches of their wedding day looks. Hannah slipped into an elegant mermaid-cut dress that features lace sleeves and a mid-length train. Laughing, Hannah said Jordan’s one request for her dress was that it not have gigantic unwieldy train.

Hannah’s hair was put up in an elegant low bun with curls framing her porcelain skin adorned with a pop of red lipstick and a subtle rose eye shadow.

Jordan and his groomsmen were already at the venue where Dom was having a blast posing them and letting their personalities come out in front of the camera.

Hannah’s bridesmaid Rachel loaded us into her car and we headed over to the Great Hall for Hannah and Jordan’s First Look.

Walking down to the lake’s edge, Hannah could see Jordan standing and patiently waiting to see his love and best friend for the first time on this, their wedding day.

Hannah walked up to him and tapping him on the shoulder, Jordan turned and I got to witness all the flood of emotions pour over his face. From joy to a moment of tears, to joy and laughter and finally to a wave of peace as he pulled her in for an embrace.

Hannah helped to place the final pieces of Jordan’s attire on which included Lego-themed cufflinks and tie clip- a subtle homage to his great love of Lego!

Dom and I enjoyed a leisurely walk around Green Lake Park, taking bridal portraits of Jordan and Hannah and as their wedding party and family joined us we took full advantage of the blooming cherry trees that rained down soft pink petals to bless this happy day.

Heading back to the venue, Hannah’s grandparents arrived and Hannah’s grandmother, one of the sweetest ladies I’ve met, took Hannah’s face in her hands and you could see the joy she had in seeing her granddaughter as a bride.

As guests began to arrive, the wedding party tucked themselves into their alcove upstairs and Jami and Laurel from Marzano Events helped guests find their seats in preparation for the big event.

One by one the wedding party walked up to the large picturesque windows framed by arches of green and pink florals. The sun was shining down and as Hannah entered the ceremony, not only Jordan’s eyes began watering, but over my shoulder I heard Hannah’s grandmother gasp, bringing her hand to her face as the emotion and joy of the moment overtook her.

Laurel officiated a lovely ceremony which included custom vows Jordan and Hannah had written for each other which had every guest reaching for a tissue by the time it heir union became official with their first kiss as husband and wife.

Jami and Laurel had the Great Hall flipped from ceremony set up to reception in a blink of an eye and Twelve Baskets Catering had delicious appetizers of roasted mushrooms filled with feta and salmon skewers to accent a delicious main course of grilled chicken.

The evening was filled with toasts that kept everyone roaring with laughter and a very sweet first dance that started out silent with Hannah and Jordan swaying to the beat of their own drum, as if there wasn’t anyone else in the whole world.

At the end of the evening when Dom and I took our leave and headed back to Portland we shared warm hugs with Hannah and Jordan, wishing them a relaxing honeymoon in the San Juan Islands!
