Kiara + Luke

An Autumn Wedding at Postlewaits Country Weddings in Canby, OR

Kiara and Luke’s gorgeous fall wedding was an absolute dream to be a part of. Neither Dom nor I had photographed at Postlewaits before, but as soon as we pulled up, it took our breath away. From the strings of lights overhanging the reception area, to the mature pampas grass lining the buildings, to the stunning groves of tall deciduous trees that made the low fall sunlight scatter into golden pools, this venue is one of those rare beauties that is a photographer’s dream.

Kiara was upstairs getting her hair and makeup done when Dom and I arrived, so we stole away with her dress, shoes, rings, invitation stationary, and the most adorable bottle of perfume I’ve ever seen to photograph the details.

Luke and the groomsmen started to arrive just as we were tucking the dress safely back into the bridal suite and Dom split off to start photographing the guys as they got together their Marvel-themed socks and undershirts, as well as their colorful pocket-squares and bow ties that were perfect pops of color amid their navy blue suits.

Up in the bridal suite, the Bridesmaids slipped into their gorgeous dresses and then waited on the landing while Kiara slipped into her wedding dress with the help of her sister. As the bridesmaids re-entered the suite, their first look reactions of the beautiful bride were absolutely priceless!

Dom took Luke across to a grove of trees to await Kiara’s approach and he and Kiara shared a joyful first look together that easily transitioned to some truly stunning and romantic bridal portraits.

The wedding party and family joined the couple for the remainder of the artistic portraits while back at the main venue the patio seating began to fill and the golden hour rays of light filled the air with a pinky orange hue, perfectly fitting to the autumn color theme Kiara had planned.

Once all the guests took their seats and Kiara’s parents were FaceTime’d in, the music changed and the bridal party made their entrance. Kiara and Luke had planned in a little comic relief to the processional with a “Flower Man” who livened up the ceremony with all the attitude attendant to such a title.

Another hilarious, but unplanned moment was as the Ring Bearer brought forth his little baby brother he announced that the job title had put the little guy to sleep! Sure enough, as he was being wheeled down the aisle in a little red wagon, there he was, snoozing soundly with his head on his chest proof that babies really can sleep anywhere!

For Kiara’s entrance, she donned her stunning Cathedral-Length Veil and was escorted by her brother to Luke’s side.

Their ceremony was touching and included a sand ceremony and personal vows Kiara and Luke had written for each other before they exchanged rings and shared their first kiss as husband and wife.

Kiara threw her arm into the air in celebration as they were announced Mr. and Mrs. and with smiles that lit up the approaching twilight they made their way back to the bridal suite to enjoy a few minutes together with their bridal party while their guests transitioned to the reception hall.

Kiara and Luke chose an Italian-style meal and the evening’s festivities included first dances, toasts and a bouquet and garter toss.

The evening was wrapped up with a solo last dance and a Sparkler Exit as Kiara and Luke rode away in a chauffeured ride, ready for their honeymoon at the coast!

It really was a lovely wedding day and the perfect way to wrap up the 2021 wedding season!
