Brittney + Kevin

A Stunning Wedding at The Coleman Guest Ranch

A Stunning Wedding at The Coleman Guest Ranch

When I think of Brittney and Kevin’s gorgeous wedding out in Molala Oregon, I of course think about the epic amounts of hops that were strung up decorating every inch of their reception tent and the surrounding rustic fences, I also think of their coordinator, Michaela from Delight Coordinating sticking around to the very end of the party to help clean everything up, I also think of Kevin’s grandmother Tillie making all the rounds as she tried to make her way home, getting stopped by literally everyone to chat, laugh and go in for a big hug. Mostly, however, I think of Brittany and Kevin’s first look and how the moment they were together the whole world literally stopped for a second and you could feel all the anticipation of the day fall at their feet as the two of them embraced.

A love like Brittney and Kevin’s is a rare thing. Not only are they both individually two of the sweetest people you will ever meet, but together they are a dynamite couple bringing together two amazing families that are somehow incredibly even better together.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Kevin, Brittney and Brittney’s daughter Payton during their engagement session this last spring and I could not wait until their stunning wedding day!

Arriving at the Coleman Guest Ranch my breath was taken away by the stunning Reception set up which was already looking “Martha Stewart” perfect thanks to the talent of Michaela, the vision of Brittney and the many, many helping hands of family and friends who had arrived at the ranch the day prior.

I found Brittney in the main guest house, already beaming while getting her hair styled by the talented Desire Cage from StyleSeat. Anisa from Best Brows Studio was also present and hard at work, helping everyone in Brittney’s wedding crew look absolutely stunning.

Payton jumped right up when I arrived, eager and willing to help me in any way I needed and soon I had all of Brittney’s jewelry, shoes, and invitations all gathered up and ready for detail shots.

After wrapping those up, Dom arrived and found Kevin and the guys and started getting them ready for their portraits.

While Desire and Anisa finished up some last minute touches on the Bridesmaids, Payton helped me round everyone up for a cute photo of everybody in their wedding morning robes.

Reica, Brittney’s mom, helped Brittney into her dress after a tearful receiving of a beautiful ring Brittney had purchased for her to thank her for all her amazing support during the craziness of wedding planning. Once Brittney was in her dress it was hard not to stare at how absolutely gorgeous she was.

Her gown was a champaign blush princess cut with a lace bodice and a mid-length train. Her dangling rose gold and rhinestone earrings glistened in the sun streaming through the window and as Reica placed a mirror for Brittney to see the full look the biggest smile spread across her face and she laughed with joy at how everything had come together.

Placing Brittney on the upper porch, Payton helped me yet again in rounding up the Bridesmaids who all came out for a “First Look” with Brittney and it was priceless to see each woman’s reaction as they stepped through the door and onto the porch. Brittney shared a hug with each before they went back downstairs and it was next Brittney’s father’s turn.

When Brittney’s dad came through the door to see his girl looking as stunning as he’d ever seen her his jaw literally dropped. Tears welled up in his eyes as he beamed at his daughter and came over for a hug of his own.

He and Brittney spent a few minutes checking out each other’s wedding day look and going back in for hug after hug as their grins kept widening.

After this touching moment, it was time to tuck Brittney back away as I went to collect Kevin for his own First Look moment.

Dom was just wrapping up portraits with the groomsmen which included highlighting their customized Beer Steins they’d been given as gifts.

As we walked with Kevin back to the main house I asked him if he was ready for this next moment and he honestly told me “nope!” with a smile. As we placed him on the porch and brought Brittney out you could feel the anticipation in the air. Tapping him on the shoulder, Kevin turned and immediately pulled her in for a tight embrace as he allowed himself a rush of emotion while holding her in his arms.

They spent a few moments like this, standing together and soaking it all in before they separated to compliment each other on how amazing they looked. Over and over again they stated how much they’d been looking forward to this moment and how happy they were that from this point on they get to be together on their wedding day.

After their First Look, we went around the Guest Ranch taking Bridal Portraits as the Bridesmaids and Groomsmen gathered by the gate leading to the pasture with Coleman Ranch’s iconic Texas Longhorns.

We snapped some Wedding Party Portraits and then Michaela and her sister who was working as her assistant came to tuck Brittney away from the eyesight of guests who were starting to arrive.

Brittney and Kevin thought of everything on their wedding day and even had a Photo Booth station where guests could take a Polaroid as they came in and use it to sign their guestbook before taking their seats in the ceremony space.

One thing to know about Kevin is he comes from a very large family. Having 11 brothers and sisters is just the start, so before long a line had formed at the photo station as family and friends numbering into the hundreds chatted while waiting to be a part of this beautiful day.

Soon guests were seated and even the standing room at the back was filled as the wedding processional began. Bridesmaids and Groomsmen entered arm in arm and an adorable flower girl and ring bearer provided some comic relief as they made their way down the aisle.

The music changed and all the guests took to their feet as Brittney and her father rounded the corner and came into view. Kevin beamed his joyful smile as she walked toward him, her long veil elegantly trailing behind her.

Their ceremony was the perfect mix of classic and personal as their officiant read passages and remarked on the nature of true love and a bond as strong as Brittney and Kevin’s.

Despite a bit of wind coming in over the back Coleman Ranch fields, Kevin and Brittney lit a unity candle, repeated vows and sealed their union with a kiss amid cheers and applause of their family and friends.

After a quick marriage license signing we rounded up the many families who were there to celebrate and took family photos while the bar and photo station opened for the rest of the guests under the reception tent.

Making a grand entrance once everyone was seated at their tables, a delicious BBQ meal of smoked brisket and creamy mac and cheese was served by McKillip’s Catering.

As the sun started to sink lower in the sky, toasts were made and then Brittney, Kevin, their videographer Dane from Casperson Productions, and I slipped out the side gate and spent fifteen minutes taking a few stunning sunset portraits in the magic of golden-hour light.

I really loved the pace of Brittney and Kevin’s reception as it was relaxed in between the more formal activities such as the first dance, cake cutting, shoe game and bouquet and garter toss, leaving Kevin and Brittney plenty of time to mingle with guests and enjoy celebratory hugs.

Toward the middle of the evening, Kevin’s grandmother posed for a photo with Brittney and Kevin next to Kevin’s late grandfather’s pickup. It had been parked right out front of the Guest Ranch House, signifying his presence on this beautiful day.

As the evening wore down, Michaela brought out a surprise box of LED tube lights and lined up guests for an epic-looking aisle way of flashing blue, pink and green lights. Taking off down the middle, Brittney and Kevin were non-stop giggling as everyone cheered the newlyweds on to their new life together.

Brittney and Kevin are currently relaxing on the beach in Cabo, having taken an early flight out the day after their wedding to celebrate their honeymoon in style on the Baja Peninsula.

I couldn’t be happier for this amazing couple and I feel just so honored to have been such an intimate part of their amazing wedding experience.
