Madeleine + Gabe

An Epic Wedding on top of Mount Hood

Have you ever wondered what a mountain-top wedding might look like? Well look no further than Madeleine and Gabe’s exquisite wedding at Mount Hood’s Silcox Hut!

Ever since meeting Madeleine and her mom over a virtual Zoom Video chat over a year ago, I have been counting down the days in anticipation for this stunning wedding.

I’ve had the joy of photographing up at The Silcox Hut only once before, and truth be told… this is my all-time favorite Summer Oregon Venue! It’s a very intimate venue, so the guest list is limited and while I love a giant wedding, for this space and the vibe of this historic mountain-top cabin intimacy is key.

Madeleine and Gabe started their day at Timberline Lodge, Madeleine getting her hair and makeup situated while Gabe hung out with the boys.

Dom joined Gabe while I met up with the first group of girls who took the famous Timberline Lodge snow-cats up the side of the mountain, watching through the back window as the lodge and the valley below grew smaller and smaller as we approached Silcox.

Madeleine and her crew were all smiles since despite the rains of the night before, the wedding day clouds had cleared, showing off the full expanse of beauty spreading out below Hood.

Madeleine, an incredibly busy military member had yet to visit Silcox in person, so when we unloaded and she got her first view of the hut’s grand room she couldn’t contain her emotion and it was tears all around!

I began getting together the details while Madeleine and the girls finalized the decor and Madeleine told me the crazy story of her cat attacking her veil just before the wedding, shredding it to ribbons! Luckily her amazing wedding seamstress also makes veils and was able to replace it within hours, absolutely saving the day!

After details, Madeleine slipped into her dress, another emotional moment and shared a first look with her father who had come up on the second snow-cat shuttle with Gabe and the boys.

Gabe’s mom had a surprise in store for both Madeleine and her son, gifting them each with custom embroidered kerchiefs with words of love and wishes of a beautiful life together.

Dom placed Gabe for the first look outside the hut while Madeleine approached, wind whipping her long veil as the sun lit the blue hills in the distance.

Turning to see his stunning bride, Gabe’s mouth literally dropped and he swept her into his arms for an immediate embrace.

For their bridal portraits, Madeleine and Gabe embraced the wind-swept mountain views, laughing and making the most of this epic spot!

Madeleine was tucked away as the rest of the guests unloaded from the last snow-cat, and the talented catering team put out an assortment of delicious drinks for everyone to enjoy as the final preparations for the ceremony were underway.

Madeleine’s brother as the Officiant brought Gaby up to take his place in front of the stone fireplace and everyone took their seats as Madeleine and her father entered and the tears of her and Gabe’s mom started flowing.

Madeleine and Gabe’s ceremony included lots of laughs and a very endearing touch where their rings were passed around to everyone present to say a little blessing for the couple.

Gabe sealed the deal with a kiss fit for a Hollywood Movie and hearty congratulations were shared as everyone enthusiastically hugged the couple.

We headed outside for Family Portraits while the grand hall was flipped from ceremony to reception set-up and upon re-entry to the Hut delicious appetizers were on display and quickly gobbled up.

Dinner was served and followed by touching, emotional, and hilarious speeches where it was clear to see that Madeleine and Gabe are truly exceptional people who have a lifetime of excitement and happiness ahead of them!

Dom and I took Gabe and Madeleine out for one last set of photos at blue hour when Wy’East was showing off all her majesty in sunset colors of pinks, yellows and soft blues.

The night was caped off with cake cutting and a lively dance party that lasted until 2am!

Dom and I count ourselves incredibly lucky to have been a part of such an intimate, stunning wedding day and are so excited to share the highlights below!
