James + Lisa

A sunset engagement session in Seaside, OR

I can’t talk about Lisa and James without immediately thinking of their adorable pups, Murphy and Barney. These two cuties are a huge part of Lisa and Jame’s life and lucky for me, they got to tag along to their engagement session!

Dom and I could not be more excited that Lisa and James are a Kate Holt Photography couple, these two are the real deal and we’re just so stinking excited of the adventure that their wedding is going to be!

Lisa and Jame’s wedding day has been through many transformations throughout the past few months and through it all Dom and I have been there, excited to see where the next bend in the wedding planning road takes us!

I absolutely fell in love with Lisa the first time we chatted, so meeting her for the first time in person was really special for me.

Lisa and James had chosen the private beaches of Seaside, OR for their engagement session, driving down from their gorgeous forest home up in Issiquah to spend a weekend on the Oregon Coast.

Last summer I had the joy of photographing a couple who knew of a private little entrance to a beach near Seaside that has very little tourist traffic and is my favorite go-to spot for weekend beach adventures. The path out to the water extends across a stunning seagrass landscape and you can just make out the stunning coastal cliffs in the distance.

We met up with Lisa and James at the little pathway that is laid with wind-sanded boards providing a study foundation to lead through the sand toward the ocean.

Right away I fell in love with photographing Lisa and James. James knows exactly how to make Lisa laugh, and when Lisa smiles man the world lights up! Within minutes we were having and blast and despite the evening bringing with it a bit of fog and chilly temperatures Lisa and James were champs and didn’t seem to mind the cold.

Leaving Dom to start up a campfire, Lisa, James and I went back to the cars to pick up Murphy and Barney and then slowly made out way back toward the beach.

Lisa was leading the oldest of the two pups who have clocked in an impressive 14-plus years as a loyal pet to James. Lisa laughed about how he seems to want to sniff at every little thing, but which she assumes is just a way for him to take bunch of mini-rests for his tired little legs.

After doing some cuddly portraits with the two pups we retreated to the warmth of the campfire where Lisa had a picnic bag packed full of campfire goodies, including gluten-free grahm crackers so that Dom could partake in s’mores as well!

We enjoyed more chatting and hanging out than photo-taking as we kept warm by the fire and discussed how excited we were for Lisa and Jame’s destination wedding in Sedona this year.

Enjoy this little selection of images from Lisa and Jame’s engagement session and be sure to check back here when we post the epic photos of the stunning wedding they have planned this May!
