An Engagement Shoot at Pittock Mansion in Portland, Oregon
When I first video chatted with Bekah, her calming presence and sweet demeanor immediately charmed me. She is such a beautiful person both inside and out that I just could not wait for her and Cody’s engagement session!
Rebekah had spent some time hiking around Forrest Park and for her engagement session had chosen one of Portland’s jewels nestled on top of a gorgeous bluff overlooking the city, Pittock Mansion. If you have never been here it is a gorgeous home which was built in the early 1900s by Henry Pittock and which was renovated in the 60s to include gorgeous sprawling gardens and green open spaces for visitors to relax.
I had never done an engagement shoot at Pittock before but had visited the grounds with my parents when Dom and I first moved to Portland and were checking out all the sights. Did you know Henry Pittock was in the group of climbers who first summited Mount Hood? It’s actually amazing how much the Pittock’s shaped Portland’s early development and a visit here is quite enlightening!
For Bekah and Cody’s engagement session we chose a sunny evening which ended up making for quite the warm walk up the hill from the street parking below! Bekah and Cody were troopers however and we enjoyed chatting and getting to know each other a bit before all the shutter clicking began.
Cody proposed to Bekah at Pacific City this last March and they will be married at Green Villa Barn in March of 2021. They had been dating for a year and a half when they got engaged and as we enjoyed the grounds of the Pittock gardens I got a little sneak peek into their relationship by learning about their first kiss, the first time they said ‘I love you’ and how they prefer to spend their down time together.
Cody is a photographer himself as well, so it was especially fun to laugh about lens choices and share some lighting tips throughout the evening.
I can’t wait for the wedding of these two! They are fantastic people to relax and spend an evening with and I feel so honored that they chose us to be a part of their love story. Check out a selection of the images we captured together below!
