Kate’s Top 20 Unique Boutonniere Designs

Formal wedding attire tends to include a fair few accessories for both the bride and the groom. Amongst the most common for the Groom are cufflinks, tie clips, pocket squares, and the topic of this blog, boutonnieres. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the boutonniere, it is usually a single flower bud, attached to the lapel of the suit jacket. Although these days, it’s not uncommon to see non-flower specific boutonnieres, most are still of that variety! Of course, having been in the wedding industry for so long, I have seen boutonnieres come in all sorts of varieties, and that got me thinking about some of the most unique ones I’d come across! So without further ado, here are my top 15 unique boutonniere designs!

1) Dried Pink Flowers Boutonniere
This glorious little arrangement is perfect for the man who loves pink. While some say that pink isn’t very manly, I disagree. The color pink is often thought to represent love and kindness, and that’s the kinda man you want to be with! Personally, I think this would go excellently with a white suit as it would provide an excellent pop of color!

2) Sakura Blossom Boutonniere
If your soon-to-be is a fan of Japanese culture, then you’ve certainly heard him rave over Sakura blossoms (also known as cherry blossoms). Cherry blossoms are some of the most beautiful flowers to see in bloom, and thus it’s only fitting that they make for one of the most beautiful boutonnieres! Like the option before this one, I think that this boutonniere would work best on a white suit!

3) Handcrafted Magnolia Blossom Boutonniere
This beautiful, handcrafted magnolia flower is simplistic yet tasteful. Though it lacks a real flower, it makes up for that with the high-quality material and look that this boutonniere provides. As it is a white flower, I think that it would look best on a darker suit, either a navy or a black!

4) Handcrafted Golden Leaf with White Flower Boutonniere
This option is for the groom who likes to look fancy! While this boutonniere isn’t anything majorly different from what we’ve seen in the past, the handmade golden leaf does allow for this boutonniere to be in a different league. The golden leaf accents the flower nicely, without taking over. This boutonniere would stand out best against a darker suit, like the option above!

5) Succulent Boutonniere
This succulent boutonniere would be optimal for the groom who loves, you guessed it, succulents! The adorable little plants tend to be just the right level of natural responsibility for anyone with a hectic life! The succulent mixed with its accompanying floral companions makes this boutonniere one of the most naturally unique options on this list!

6) Rope Boutonniere

This Boutonniere is perfect for the rock climbing or outdoor enthusiast! It’s simple to make and the materials are dirt cheap! The awesome part is that rope can be found in almost any color. So, making it match your wedding colors should be a cinch!

2) Golf Tee Boutonniere

Perfect for the man who’d rather be at the golf course rather than almost anywhere else! Like the option above, gold tees can be found in a large variety of colors! On the off chance that your wedding colors don’t correspond with the tee, simply paint it to match! Another easy and cheap option!

3) Spicy Pepper Boutonniere

Just be careful not to touch your eyes! If your man loves his spicy foods, then this is the boutonniere for him! Although it is hard to find peppers in crazy colors, it is doable, and if not, paint them!

8) Dried Flower Boutonniere

I’ve always found something so beautiful about dried and pressed greenery. This option turns away from the traditional large flower and instead opts for some beautiful, tiny white flows and a layering of grasses and leaves! Another one of my favorites on this list, even in “death” nature can still look truly beautiful!

9) Satin Rose and Leaf Chain Boutonniere

This Boutonniere is perfect for the groom who wants to look a bit more bourgeois. Like in the photo, I think this boutonniere would pair best with either a black or dark navy suit. The beauty of a red rose is that even if it’s within your color scheme, it will generally not be perceived as an upset, as red is the color of love!

This boutonniere is great for the man who loves his plants. With a nice variety of botanicals included, this eucalyptus-based boutonniere is hard to beat! Finally, the last offering on this humble list! This steampunk themed boutonniere instantly caught my eye, in a good way! For anyone who loves the steampunk aesthetic and sci-fi genre, this boutonniere is hard to say no to! While it certainly stands out, I think it would go excellently on a dark navy or black suit!
