5 Reasons to Have a Photo Booth at Your Wedding

When it comes to fun events to partake in at a wedding, the list usually includes chatting with extended family, dancing, the garter/bouquet toss and toasts. While most of the family will also participate in photos of some sort throughout the day, they’re usually very structured and thus the amount of “fun” is quite limited.

While you’ll never hear me say that you shouldn’t hire a full-on photographer, a photo booth can be and is a great way to include all your guests in the fun of wedding portraits, without the stress of structure and timing. In fact, I have a list of reasons why I think that you should have both a photo booth and a photographer at your wedding! Trust me, you won’t regret it!

Whether you choose to hire a photo booth or DIY one, one thing is for certain, everyone who partakes in it will have sooooo much fun! Photo booths are great because they offer a certain freedom that you can’t get with just a wedding photographer. For example, you may not have enough time before your reception to get every member of your extended family or your friends into a photo with you. Photographers are expensive and daylight is fleeting, but photo booths are cheap and can be positioned inside your reception space to allow for adequate lighting long after the sun goes down! This is the first reason I’d recommend having a photo booth along with your photographer. You can have the photographer take you formal portraits and shoot the whole wedding day in incredible detail and then use the photo booth to grab quick photos with your guests throughout your reception and after party. Photo booths allow freedom from the constraints of daylight and the time that you want to pay your photographer for.

Candid photos are one of the coolest things to photograph at a wedding. They show life, happiness and excitement for the big event of the day, your marriage! However, your wedding photographer will have more than enough things to shoot throughout your wedding day and candid photos, while beautiful, can get put on the back burner. This problem can be remedied with a photo booth! Again, this will allow your photographer to focus on what you pay them to shoot, you and your big day! Yes, you will still get some candid’s even without a photo booth but having one available encourages your guests to go and get photos on their time, without the need for the photographer to be there.

A photo booth is fun for everyone! If you’re planning on having guests with little ones attending your wedding then great news, the photo booth is a great way to keep everyone, regardless of age, having a great time! Now, if you’re planning on DIY’ing it, this may cause some issues with the littles ones not being able to operate the booth properly, however if you hire a photo booth, more often than not they’ll have an attendee there who can help out! So, whether your guests are young, old or anywhere in between, a photo booth provides excitement and fun throughout your wedding day!

Are you looking for a creative way to do your guest book? What about a photo album? I’m serious, a photo booth provides you with an incredible way to not only see who all attended your wedding, it’s also a great way to get your guests involved in the memory making process! Besides, who wouldn’t want to have a picture to remember their time at your wedding! Add some dress up accessories like fake mustaches and colorful wigs and you're bound to have an awesome guest book, full of smiling and cheerful friends and family who showed up to celebrate with you on your big day!

If your venue doesn't support large group dancing a photo booth can be a great substitute. It carries the same energy and excitement while only requiring a fraction of the space! Even if your venue has plenty of space for dancing, not all your guests will be inclined to do so. Having a photo booth is a great way to make everyone feel like they’ve been included in the festivities, regardless of their dancing prowess.

Most photo booths for hire offer photo sharing via social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. Even if you DIY it, you could set up a sharing account specifically for your photo booth photos to go out from. People love to see the images of themselves and more than likely they’d want to share them anyways! It’s a win-win in my opinion!

These are just some of the many reasons why I recommend having a photo booth for your wedding day! I can tell you from firsthand experience, the couples I’ve worked with that have incorporated a photo booth into their wedding don’t regret it! It provides an excellent source of entertainment and a great way to create lasting memories between guests and yourselves and you and your new spouse!
