Normally when you think of an Oregon Coast Elopement, visions of cloudy skies with strong winds and even a sprinkling of rain might come to mind. For Alyssa and Johnny however, their gorgeous wedding was blessed with the rarest of Oregon coastal days that was calm, warm and sunny.

Alyssa is a very talented crafter, so when Dom and I arrived to their little beach house rental we found DIY wedding projects everywhere we looked. Alyssa herself was out in the back yard, painting and glueing together her cake display, smiling as her bridesmaids and groomsmen came and went, placing table cloths and putting together numerous special wedding decor projects.

Dom and I slipped out to the porch to photograph Alyssa and Johhny’s shoes, Alyssa’s grandmother’s heirloom ring and of course their engagement rings.

After details were done, the guys gathered in the bright living room while Alyssa and her bridesmaids slipped into a spare room to help Alyssa with the multitudes of buttons that put a finishing touch to her elegant wedding look.

Alyssa laughed as she told the story of her wedding dress being a sort of last-minute decision, but once she had it on it was easy to see why she switched for this gorgeous two-piece combo of flowing tule skirt with graceful long-sleeved top.

Dom placed Johnny in the yard for the first look, and their fellow wedding party members looked on from a second-floor balcony as Alyssa tapped him on the shoulder to have him turn and see her in all her beauty. After a few minutes of beaming smiles and an emotional hug, we jumped in our cars and headed to the ceremony site on the beach for their bridal portraits.

As we arrived, the last bit of low-hanging clouds burned off and Alyssa and Johnny were touched with that heavenly glow of the rare Oregon coast sun. The unique thing about the beach Alyssa and Johnny chose is the still water that gets trapped in vast shallow sand pools just after high tide. They had planned their ceremony perfectly so that their pre-ceremony bridal portraits could make full use of these unique natural reflection pools so Dom and I had a blast running all over to capture all the angles!

As we finished up the bridals, the wedding party and guests arrived on the scene and Alyssa’s daughter completely stole the show with her bouncing red hair, boundless energy and sprite-like flower girl dress.

After some family and wedding party portraits, Johhny’s ex-music teacher stuck up a gorgeous tune on her cello and everyone took their places.

Their ceremony was absolutely lovely and complete with personal vows exchanged right before Alyssa and Johnny shared their first kiss as husband and wife.

The guest’s cheers could be heard over the surf of the nearby waves, and Alyssa and Johnny stuck around for a few hearty congratulations before heading back to the beach house.

Getting the reception kicked off was an all-hands activity as everyone pitched in to set up the hot coco bar, balloon archway and cocktail bar.

The rest of the evening was spent enjoying a lovely meal, almost every single guest offering a heart-felt toast to the newlyweds, and sharing dances under the last golden rays of the day.

It was such a beautiful wedding day and Dom and I both feel so blessed to be a part of it!
