Cody + Lindsey
Have you ever heard of a first look with your photographer? To be honest, me either, but I experienced one during Cody and Lindsey’s wedding and I have to say, I’m a fan!
I first met Cody and Lindsey at a little coffee shop by my old apartment in February of 2020, just before the world as we knew it came to a screeching halt. Needless to say, the resultant planning, replanning, replanning and replanning which finally led up to Lindsey and Cody’s stunning wedding at Enso Winery was a trial of persistence and dedication!
When their wedding day finally arrived, I drove out to Western Seminary, a location Lindsey had selected for it’s quiet beauty. Unlike most wedding days where I’m around the getting ready space, Lindsey and Cody were meeting me at the First Look location and they planned to arrived all dolled up in their wedding attire, so as I walked around the quiet campus, it was me who had little butterflies in my stomach, excited for the reveal of this creative and lovely couple’s wedding day look!
Cody arrived with his groomsmen in tow, looking dashing in grey three-piece suites with purple neckties and leather shoes.
We had a good time, laughing and recreating scenes from Reservoir Dogs and teasing one groomsman mercilessly about a certain well-loved hat he brought along.
Soon I got a text from Lindsey and I placed Cody strategically and instructed her where to enter the campus. Seeing her walk up MY breath was taken away as she was an utter vision in a pale champaign dress with low-slung princess sleeves, lace trailing onto her delicately manicured hands, her dark curls set in ringlets framing her glowing face. Atop her head set a subtle flower crown of silver, complimenting her classic pearl necklace with a pair of delicate earrings which added an eclectic element being in fact, tiny gold birdcages with a little bluebird housed inside, a subtle nod to the old wedding tradition of “something blue.”
If you can’t tell, basically I’m a huge fan of Lindsey’s choices in her wedding day look and although I could have had my own full-on “First Look” moment with her I of course didn't want to keep Cody waiting, so I snapped away as Lindsey walked up to him, tapping him on the shoulder and inviting him to see his bride for the first time on this long-anticipated wedding day!
Cody’s reaction was priceless, and honestly, it continued all day. Every time I snuck a peek at him looking at her, that same look of complete adoration would come across his face, showing off just how much in love with this woman he is. Lindsey was all smiles and giggles as she embraced her fiance and showed off her featherweight dress, twirling and allowing its many delicate layers to float up, rippling around the tops of her heels as she did so.
Lindsey’s bridesmaids were also stunning in floral champaign floor length dresses, accentuated by stunning bouquets with deep pink Dahlias at their focal point.
We had fun taking out time finishing all the portraits before packing back into cars and heading to the ceremony venue, the intimate Enso Winery in SE Portland.
This little winery is the perfect event space for an intimate wedding celebration having a back room lined with wine barrels and topped with stings of glowing lights which create the perfect romantic ambiance when paired with dozens of floating candles and a wedding arch decked out in more stunning florals.
Many of Lindsey and Cody’s guests had arrived a bit early, enjoying the lively atmosphere of the winery and of course tasting Enso’s award-winning reds, rosés, and whites.
As the guests made their way into the ceremony space, Cody escorted his grandmother in to take her seat and then stood under the wedging arch. The wedding party filtered in and then everyone stood, waiting in anticipation as the music changed to an acoustic rendition of “Puff the Magic Dragon” as Lindsey made her epic entrance, all smiles!
Cody and Lindsey’s ceremony was touching and their vows left literally every person tearing up before their passionate kiss sealed the deal and the party began!
After a few quick family portraits, Lindsey disappeared while Cody circulated around the guests and received many hearty pats on the back and congratulatory hugs. When Lindsey re-entered she was wearing her second outfit change of the day- an equally stunning dress which had patterns of pastel colors in enthusiastic brush strokes to accentuate it’s playful nature.
A delicious BBQ-style meal was served as guests continued to filter back to the wine bar for more refreshments, anticipating the fun night of dancing that would soon follow.
After the dining tables were cleared away, Lindsey and Cody shared their first dance which included not one but TWO epic dips, and then the dance floor filled with guests, dancing to a playlist curated by Lindsey and Cody themselves.
Before the night was over, toasts were made, Lindsey and Cody cut their cake, Lindsey tossed her bouquet and several dance-circles were had and all too soon it was time to take my leave.
Cody and Lindsey plan on taking a honeymoon trip next spring to one of my favorite places in Greece, Santorini and I couldn’t be more excited for them!
