A Smith Rock Engagement Session in Terrebonne, OR
Oh man… the gorgeous warm colors of one of my absolute favorite places on the planet plus an evening with this hilarious and gorgeous couple!? Wake me I must be dreaming!
This adventure session took us to the high desert of Central Oregon to a tiny town called Terrebonne. Nestled in this very unassuming place is a landscape like none other which draws crowds from literally the world over. After spending an evening strolling along the rock formations in the beautiful golden hour light, it is easy to see why Tanner and Emma choose Smith Rock State Park as the ideal location for their engagement session.
Tanner and Emma went to school together and have the most amazing and hilarious stories of their High School days which kept Dom and I laughing non-stop throughout the whole evening. While their history dates back to their childhood, their love story wasn’t exactly “love at first sight” and Emma entertained us with the trials and tribulations they went through in those teenage years of finding their way to each other.
Although they both grew up in Northern Oregon, Tanner ended up getting a job in Madras which took him hours away from Emma and it was in this moment she realized just how much having him in her life truly meant. They were on a hike in Smith Rock while Emma visited Central Oregon with some mutual friends and it was there that they laid the foundations for the committed relationship that bonds them now.
Even with Tanner still working in Madras during the week, they see each other every weekend and get to hang out with their adorable new puppy Heinz. After spending just one evening with them it is easy to see how madly in love they are and how perfect they mesh as a couple. Having known each other for so many years, their families are also quite close and so the announcement of their engagement was greeted with much joy and excitement!
Returning to Smith to relive the start of something new in their relationship as a couple made for not only an amazing and picturesque setting, but also a sweet way to commemorate their engagement.
Emma is one of those people who you just can’t help but like. After our first video call we found ourselves texting back and forth about wedding and engagement details and I knew I had to bring Dom along to their shoot as I just had this sneaky feeling that we all might just end up as friends. ;)
After over two hours of hiking around, laughing and making Tanner do every fancy lift I know of, we ended up hanging out at a local bar and chatting about life, travel, family and love. At one point Dom and Emma were even seconds away from booking a skydiving experience together!
Hanging out with these two made for an unforgettable evening and it makes me so excited for their wedding at Tanner’s Aunt and Uncle’s estate in Oregon City next year. In fact, to be honest I probably won’t be able to wait all the way until next July to see these guys again and maybe, just maybe Tanner and I will get brave and join Emma and Dom in skydiving this summer before the leaves turn… we’ll see!
