Kaitlin + Zach
An Engagement Session in the
Columbia River Gorge
When I think of Zach and Kaitlin, I can’t help but immediately think of Zach’s proposal story that to me, is just the perfect example of a truly perfect, intimate way to ask someone to be your forever person.
At the time, Kaitlin had been going through a challenging traditionary period with her career and had finally decided to switch her field of focus. After officially deciding to take the big leap from what she knew and had been working in for years, Kaitlin switched to take a chance on a more rewarding career. Planning what Zach had deemed a “celebratory meal” on this big step in her life, Zach kicked Kaitlin out of the kitchen while he prepared everything.
Unbeknownst to Kaitlin, Zach’s preparations included a camera to film the proposal making sure Kaitlin and he would be able to share this experience with family and friends later on.
When Zach collected Kaitlin and led her in to sit, he bent on one knee and presented her with a family heirloom ring from Kaitlin’s grandmother. The moment was quite emotional, and both Zach found himself crying too much to actually ask her to marry him, and Kaitlin was crying too much to do anything but nod as they shared a kiss as their adorable mini aussie Keith sat by their side, wagging his tail in approval. Kaitlin would later tell me it was the perfect private proposal that she had always dreamed about and after getting to know both her and Zach, I couldn’t picture it any other way for them.
For their engagement session, Zach and Kaitlin opted to go out to the Columbia river gorge. With the super wet and rainy spring, we ended up rescheduling a few times but we finally landed on the perfect sunny summer evening and when we arrived to our shoot location we were pleasantly surprised to find that all the rain had brought forth wildflowers to an extent I’ve never seen before!
Zach and Kaitlin are naturals in front of the camera, and styled their outfits perfectly together! We enjoyed Walking the trails next to the river and Zach showed off his strength, easily lifting Kaitlin up for a few more dramatic poses!
Kaitlin and Zach are planning a gorgeous wedding at Skamania Lodge at the end of August, and I can’t wait to see what their wedding day has in store for this incredible couple.
