Christina + Eric

Have you ever known the kind of people who always seem to make a bad situation work out for the best? Christina and Eric are these people. Like many couples who had their wedding planned for 2020, Christina and Eric were forced to postpone their celebration to 2021. For me, this would be devastating and I’d probably be pretty sullen and upset about having to wait, but Christina and Eric looked at the extra year wait as a blessing and used the extended time as a way to save up for an engagement shoot fund and book an epic adventure shoot on the coast! Even when the weather threatened clouds and rain on the day of their shoot, Christina was writing me saying how beautiful rain could be in photos and choose to go ahead with the shoot as planned rather than reschedule. As a couple, these two just take on life at full speed and embrace whatever comes!
Eric had his eye on Christina ever since they shared executive roles in a club in college, for him it was practically love at first sight. Christina had a wanderlust however and this took her overseas to Florence where she travelled all over Italy and immersed herself in the culture. Eric wasn’t to be dissuaded however, and when Christina returned he set to making her his. They have now been dating for 6 years and call the Pacific Northwest their home. Christina grew up on the east coast and Eric is from California, so when fait brought them to Oregon they immediately fell in love with the beauty and wildness of this state.
Eric is an avid skier and both he and Christina are big outdoor enthusiasts. In fact, when we arrived to the trailhead in Manzanita where Dom and I had scoped out a gorgeous cliff-side trail, they realized that they’d hiked the trail in the opposite direction all the way to the top of the lookout the previous summer!
In addition to skiing, hiking and kayaking, Christina and Eric also love to just snuggle up with their pup Henley and enjoy movie nights at home.
Our session was a blast, full of laughter and a complete willingness on both Christina and Eric’s part to try anything. They had a bit of a fear of photo sessions feeling overly stiff and posed, but they were quickly encompassed by the beauty of Manzanita and as my camera shutter clicked I could tell we were getting the kind of candid, full of life portraits Christina had wanted.
We enjoyed our cliff-side trail and then headed to Hug Point to get some beach shots. I unfortunately ended up soaking Eric’s pants all the way to the thigh when a sneaker wave hit them from behind, but he was completely gracious about it and didn’t complain even once about how cold that water must have been!
We found a gorgeous little waterfall on the edge of the beach which was a bonus, and Eric was so good at the “lift” pose that I made them do it over and over in several locations!
Christina and Eric will be having their wedding in New York next year and I wish them nothing but the best, check out the images we captured together below!
