Tim + Bre

An Intimate Wedding at the Best Western on Agate Beach

I first met Breanna over a video chat and I instantly fell in love with her. She’s just one of the most even-keeled brides I’d ever met, and the way she spoke about her and Tim’s gorgeous beach wedding they had planned for the summer made me so excited at the change to photograph it!

Breanna and Tim met 3 years ago and after a romantic evening together knew they were the perfect fit. They both love the coast and have enjoyed countless walks on the beach together discussing their future which ultimately brought them to a warm summer day at Agate Beach, celebrating their union together as Man and Wife.

For their celebrations, Tim and Bre rented the most gorgeous beach house looking over the ocean and across to the lighthouse which stands atop the classically rocky Oregon Coastline of Agate Beach.

When I arrived, Tim and Bre’s family were loading their vans to shuttle various items across to their suits at The Best Western Agate Beach, and Tim was relaxing on the sofa, soaking in a few moments of respite between all the excitement. Bre was at a local salon having her hair styled, so I followed Tim’s mom over to the hotel and up to their suite where I spent a few minutes re-arranging the room to take detail shots. Tim’s family has strong cultural ties to Scotland and therefore his and Bre’s wedding had many amazing Scottish elements including full kilts for the guys, and an inaugural sash and pin Bre would later be presented with.

After a few moments Bre came in with family and friends and the suite was soon filled with girls doing hair and makeup in every corner. Tim’s mom had packed practically an entire jewelry store of options for Bre to choose from, and it was fun watching them pick out the perfect set of earrings and necklace to compliment Bre’s wedding look.

Once Bre’s natural makeup look was all done, she slipped into her light and airy wedding gown and we had fun taking a few window light portraits.

After this it was down to Tim and the guys as they tucked their garter flashes into their kilt hose, pinned on the harp symbol of their clan, and adjusted their sporran for storing their various items in. Tim’s good friend and best man also helped pin on his boutonnière and after a minor hickup of finding Tim’s missing shoes was solved, it was out to the front lawn for the first look.

As Are walked up to Tim to tap him on the shoulder and he turned, you could see that amazing mixture of joy, surprise and adoration at how beautiful Breanna looked. During their engagement session, Tim mentioned that he’d never seen Bre in a dress prior to that moment, and laughted when he told me that he had to get her express agreement to wear a Wedding DRESS for their union. First looks like this are especially incredible and as I witnessed Tim smile and throw his arms around Bre in an embrace, I counted my lucky stars and said a silent thanks to the road that led me to be here sharing this moment with the two of them.

Tim and Are had chosen the Best Western Hotel at Agate Beach as their ceremony venue because Agate Beach is one of their old stomping grounds. The Best Western also has the perfect front lawn area facing the ocean and offering a lush green spot free of sand and protected from the whipping coastal wind.

Bre had requested that her florist decorate their wedding arch with white roses and lillies with pops of deep red matching the Bride’s Maids dresses and offering a stunning contrast to the vibrant greens of the ceremony lawn.

Tim and the offing were friends from work, so they chatted a bit before taking their place at the head of the archway as the guests took their seats. The wedding party made their way down the aisle and bagpipes struck up as Bre and her mother walked down toward Tim, eyes alight with the excitement of this moment.

Tim and Bre wanted a short ceremony, so after a brief exchange of vows they shared a kiss and were officially married!

We spent a few minutes gathering family together for portraits and then everyone filtered into the reception hall.

After enjoying charcuterie boards of plumbs, cheeses and grapes with delicious crackers and spread, a lovely meal was served by the staff of the Best Western Agate Beach.

Tim’s Best Man made a lovely toast to the newlyweds and Tim’s Mother’s Partner led a lovely ceremony of donning Are with a Sash and Pin recognizing her induction into the Sons of Aaron.

After cutting their incredible ocean-themed wedding cake, the entire reception joined in on singing a traditional Irish song which was hilarious and so much fun!

Just before sunset, Tim, Bre and I snuck out to the beach for a few “Just Married” portraits before returning to enjoy the rest of the their reception.

Bre and Tim had an early flight out the next morning to their honeymoon getaway in Mexico and are currently relaxing with their toes in the sand, reflecting on the gorgeous celebration they created.
